Vita 34 AG: Vita 34 increases period result in 2011
- Positive period result of about EUR 1.2 million achieved after EUR 0.3
million in 2010
- Revenue of EUR 16.0 million after EUR 16.96 million in 2010
- Increase in operational result expected for 2012
Leipzig, March 12, 2012 - According to preliminary figures, the Vita 34 AG
(ISIN DE000A0BL849), the oldest private umbilical cord blood bank in the
German-speaking countries, has considerably increased the period result in
the business year 2011 compared to the previous year. The period result of
about EUR 1.2 million clearly exceeded that of EUR 0.3 million in the year
before. As expected, the revenue fell below the previous year's value of
EUR 16.96 million and amounted to EUR 16.0 million in the period under
review. The earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) totaled EUR -0.3
million after EUR 0.7 million one year ago.
The positive business development with increasing storage figures could be
continued again in Italy. Vita 34 has been active in this market with its
distribution partner Sorgente S.r.l. since 2009. The number of preparations
from the region almost doubled in 2011. Increasing storage figures from
this area are expected in the future.
The total number of storages in 2011 amounted to 8,806 preparations
compared to 11,038 in the record year of 2010. The challenging economic
market environment in Spain became noticeable in clearly regressive storage
figures. In addition, the storages for the Norddeutsche Knochenmark- und
Stammzellregister (NKR) were lost in 2011, after they had strongly risen in
2010.
In the total year of 2012, the revenue should be on the same level as in
2011. The marketing and sales activities should be even more intensified in
this business year and further business segments developed within the
value-added chain beyond Europe. The plan is to moderately increase the
operational result in 2012.
The definite figures will be published together with the complete financial
statement on March 21, 2012.
