VITA 34 AG: VITA 34 Increases Profit in Third Quarter of 2011

- Positive group result of approximately EUR 1 million following EUR 0.03
million
- Earnings before interest and taxes [EBIT] also increased
- Revenues of EUR 4.3 million at prior year's level
- Positive group results expected for full year 2011

Leipzig, October 17, 2011 - VITA 34 AG (ISIN DE000A0BL849, the oldest
private umbilical cord blood bank in the German-speaking countries, has
increased its profits in the third quarter of 2011 as compared with the
prior year, and has earned revenues at the level of the previous year. The
group result of EUR 0.96 million in the reporting period was significantly
higher than the prior year's result of EUR 0.03 million. The earnings
before interest and taxes, EBIT, of EUR 0.24 million in Q3 2011 also
exceeded the prior year's level of EUR 0.19 million. Thus, in Q3 2011 VITA
34 was again successful in posting numbers in the black, after having to
post losses in the first and second quarters of 2011. Revenues of EUR 4.33
nearly reached the level of the third quarter of 2010.

The development in Italy, where VITA 34 works together with its partner
Sorgente S.r.l., was pleasing. The storage figures and the revenue from
this region in the third quarter was significantly higher than in the prior
year's quarter and, when considering the period from January to September
2011, even more than double that of the same period the year before. This
positive trend should continue in the further course of the year.

The number of storages in the third quarter 2011 of 2,363 did exceed the
value of each of the first two quarters of 2011, however, it was not
possible to attain the prior year's level of 3,141 storages. The reasons
for this were declining storage figures from Spain due to the tense
economic situation there, and reticence with regard to private preventative
expenditures in the German home market. In addition, storage for the
Norddeutsche Knochenmark- und Stammzellregister (NKR - North German Bone
Marrow and Stem Cell Registry), was fully eliminated in 2011.

The umbilical cord blood storages in the first nine months of 2011 were
6,840 preparations following 8,293 in the prior year. Revenues of EUR 12.1
were slightly higher than the level of the prior year of EUR 12.0 million.
EBIT in the first nine months of 2011 was EUR -0.4 million, following EUR
0.4 million in the first nine months of 2010. In the reporting period a
positive group result of EUR 0.5 million was posted. A group result of EUR
0.2 million was attained in the prior year's period.

VITA 34 expects a positive group result for the full year 2011. Revenues
will most likely be below the level of record year 2010.
