Vita 34 AG: Preliminary Annual Result 2012
Leipzig, 14 March 2013 - Vita 34 AG (ISIN DE000A0BL849), the largest
private umbilical cord blood bank in the German-speaking countries,
generated a period result for fiscal year 2012 in the amount of EUR -0.6
million according to preliminary figures. The prior year's result of some
EUR 1.2 million contained one-time income from the first activation of
deferred taxes on losses carried forward of Vita 34 International AG in the
wake of the merger.
Revenues in the reporting period were EUR 13.6 million and were, as
expected, below the prior year's figure of EUR 16.0 million. The earnings
before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, EBITDA, of EUR 0.4
million was lower than the EUR 0.6 million of the prior year.
The number of storages in 2012 was 7,417 preparations, following 8,806 in
the preceding year. There were declines in storages primarily in Spain, but
also in our core market, Germany. The expansion of foreign business was
continued in the reporting year, and the successful cooperation with our
Serbian partner Bio Save d.o.o. was expanded to Montenegro at the end of
2012. We opened a joint office in China together with other technology
companies in October 2012.
In fiscal year 2013, Vita 34 is planning an increase in revenue and a
significant increase in the operating result (EBITDA). In order to do this,
Vita 34 initiated important cost reduction measures in fiscal year 2012.
The cost savings will take full effect in fiscal year 2013, and will make a
positive contribution to profits.
The final figures will be published with the complete annual report on
March 28, 2013.
