Leipzig, July 11, 2008 - VITA 34 International AG (ISIN DE000A0BL849), the
parent company of the leading private umbilical cord blood bank in the
German-speaking countries VITA 34, has increased the number of storages of
umbilical cord blood grafts to 5,306 according to the preliminary figures
in the 1st six months of 2008, compared with 4,966 storages in the same
period last year. The revenue of 7.2 million Euro in the first half of
2008 was slightly below the previous year’s value. This must be attributed
to changes in the turnover mix as well as to the backlash effect of the
turnovers by one or two months with regard to the storages. The loss from
the continuing operations in the 1st six months of 2008 amounted to -0.9
million Euro, compared with -0.8 million Euro one year ago. Concerning the
result, VITA 34 is thus within the limits of the planning.
Because of the presently available semi-annual data, VITA 34 adjusts the
forecast for the full year 2008 as regards revenue and storages and at the
same time confirms the profit planning. So far, revenue and storages in
2008 should have grown within a clearly double-digit percentage.
After last year’s record revenue at the amount of 15.4 million Euro,
revenue between 15.0 and 16.0 million Euro is being expected for the
current year. The number of storages is to rise at least within a one-digit
percentage in 2008. As regards the result, VITA 34 continues to assume,
even on the basis of the given new forecasts, that the announced EBIT of
-2.5 million Euro will be expected. For 2009, VITA 34 expects that the
revenue dynamics will be noticeably promoted again and at the same time
that the breakeven point will be achieved. VITA 34 will in addition time
the expansion of the field sales force with the modified turnover planning.
VITA 34 is going to publish the half year results on July 14.
