VITA 34 International AG: Clearly positive result in Q1 2010
* Period result increases to 0.3m Euro
* Storages and revenue exceed even last year's high level
* Marked increase in profitability for overall year 2010 expected
Leipzig, April 15, 2010 - The VITA 34 International AG (ISIN DE000A0BL849),
parent company of the largest private umbilical cord blood bank in the
German-speaking countries VITA 34, was able to increase the period result
clearly to EUR 0.3 million in the Q1 2010 after having recorded a deficit
of EUR 0.1 million in the previous year. The number of storages of
umbilical cord blood in Q1 of 2,477 exceeded last year's level of 2,448.
The revenues of EUR 3.5 million in Q1 were also slightly above last year's
level of EUR 3.4 million. In addition, the considerably improved result
arises from a consistent cost management.
The earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) has improved to EUR 0.2
million, after having recorded a deficit of EUR 0.2 million for the
relevant quarter in 2009. The equity capital increased to EUR 19.0 million
as of March 31, 2010 and the liquid funds on this date amounted to EUR 7.2
million compared to EUR 5.7 million in the previous year. The equity ratio
therewith changed to very sound 63.6 percent compared to last year's 61.9
percent.
The clearly positive result in Q1 confirms the corporation's plans. VITA 34
is expecting a marked improvement of the profitability for the overall year
2010.
