VITA 34 Continues Growth Course in Q3 2007 – Annual Plan Increased Again

Leipzig, October 8, 2007 – VITA 34 International AG (ISIN DE000A0BL849),
the parent company of the leading umbilical cord blood bank in the
German-speaking countries, VITA 34, has continued its growth trend in the
third quarter of 2007, according to preliminary figures. In Q3 the number
of storage units increased by 33 percent in comparison with the prior
year's period, to 2,972 transplants. In the first nine months of 2007, the
storage units rose by 51% to 7,968. Revenues according to IFRS rose by 46%
to 4.1 million Euro in the 3rd quarter as compared to the prior year’s
period. In the first nine months of 2007, the storage units rose by 49% as
compared to the prior year’s period to 11.5 million Euro.
Q3 2007 was, therefore, the best quarter in the 10-year history of the
company, both with regard to storage units as well as revenue.
Despite the planned increase in marketing and sales efforts for market
expansion, VITA 34 International AG achieved a slightly positive operating
profit (EBIT) in Q3 2007 of 71 Euro ‘000, as compared to 241 Euro ‘000 in
the same period the year before. In the first nine months EBIT amounted to
690 Euro ’000, and was significantly greater than the value for the prior
year’s period of negative 75 Euro ‘000. This shows the positive effect on
profits of the plan-exceeding revenues caused by the sales measures
initiated.
VITA 34 will consistently continue with its growth-oriented strategy. To do
this, the company will increase its marketing and sales expenditures
disproportionately over the next three months and, consequently, a clear
loss will be incurred in the fourth quarter that will affect the entire
year. The positive effects of the more intense market cultivation will
mainly be realized in the coming year.
Based on the positive development of business, VITA 34 is increasing its
prognoses for the entire fiscal year 2007. The number of storage units
should increase by 40 percent as compared to the previous year. Up to now
an increase of 30 percent had been communicated. The sales revenues should
also increase by more than 25 percent, up to now an increase of 20 to
nearly 25 percent had been announced.
The final interim report for the first nine months of 2007 will be
published on October 15th. The Management Board of VITA 34 International AG
